Destiny Harvest | Fall 2025
The Harvest
As the air turns crisp and the pace of life begins to slow, we find ourselves in that familiar in between, a season of gathering and letting go. There’s a certain kind of magic in this moment, a quiet alchemy in how we transform what we’ve learned and lived into something new.
Brandi Douglas’s poem “The Harvest” feels like a companion for that transition. It’s an invitation to pause and reflect on what’s come to fruition, what hasn’t, and what still stirs beneath the surface. To honor both the lessons and the losses and to trust that even in stillness, there’s movement.
Before we tuck away for the season ahead, may these words remind us of our shared cycles of growth and rest, and the community that holds us through them all.
When I think about the changing of seasons,
green leaves to orange,
seeds sown to harvest,
I am reminded of the ebb and flow of all things.
How we sprout in anticipation,
Reaching towards the sun,
Exuberant.
Only to wither and undo.
What do we do with the quiet of this season,
All the lessons harvested?
Can you reflect?
Honor all that came to fruition,
Even that which was planted, that would not sprout.
Let your learnings germinate,
And your heartache, nestle next to your joy.
While a chill fall wind loosens from your grip,
All that you must let go.
Let the soil catch it.
I promise, you’ll emerge again.

Brandi (They/She) is a writer/artist/entrepreneur who owns both Mending Matriarch, a mixed media art brand and Ease Ally, a virtual assistant service. They are a proud Queer, Two-Spirit, neurodivergent, multiracial member of the Puyallup Tribe and lifelong resident of Tacoma, Washington. As an artist, Brandi uses their work to communicate, illustrate and advocate as well as promote healing, humor and community. As a virtual assistant, they provide small to medium-sized companies and organizations virtual assistant support in the hopes of inviting more ease into the professional and personal lives of their clients. Side note: the art piece that I created is called Old Growth - which goes in tandem with the poem about Fall and speaks to the old growth trees as a reference to those old growth or longstanding pillars/people/culture/traditions that bear the brunt of changing conditions and still remain to help us continue forward.
