Winging It at Hank's

Who doesn't love getting a
little messy with some wings?
We do.

We headed to Hank's Bar & Pizza for our Tastemakers lunch, tucked into a great historic neighborhood filled with picturesque homes and well kept gardens. It was one of those sunny Tacoma days that makes you want to spend every minute outside, so we grabbed a table on their covered patio, and it turned out to be the perfect place to settle in for lunch.

Inside, the bar had a welcoming, lived-in feel. The usual crowd was gathered for their own lunch breaks, chatting with the bartenders and catching up with friends. It feels like the kind of place where a conversation with a stranger could turn into a familiar face the next time you stop by. The patio was a highlight of the experience. Covered and surrounded by grapevines, it provided plenty of shade while still letting us enjoy the beautiful weather. We also appreciated the music selection. There was a little bit of everything playing, making it easy for everyone to hear something they liked.

Now, let's talk about the wings.

With a variety of flavors to choose from, it felt like a choose-your-own-adventure experience. We started with the classic BBQ, which struck the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Next up were the Tropical wings, featuring sweet pineapple and smoky flavors that brought a fun twist to the lineup. Finally, the Hot Honey Dijon wings were that girl. With just the right amount of heat and crisp, they easily stole the show. The mix of sweet, smoky, and spicy options offered an unexpected contrast to traditional wing flavors and made sharing easy.

To round out the meal, we ordered the Gouda Mac & Cheese and a quesadilla. Both were solid additions to the table and complemented the wings nicely without stealing the spotlight.
