A Sweet Start
A Donut Run to Connie’s
Getting up a little bit earlier to go get a donut felt like a pretty good way to start the day. Or, in our case, it was a little treat to bring back to the office for an after-lunch pick-me-up.
We got there and were immediately charmed with the spot. It was exactly what I expect in a Tacoma staple, unassuming, full of personality, and the kind of place that feels like it has been part of the neighborhood forever. Inside, there were little trinkets and toy figures around the shop, and adding to its charm the plants were absolutely thriving in the sunshine. Even though we stopped at around noon, people were still coming in and out.
And, of course, we had plenty of options to choose from.
Naturally, we got our go-to donut first, then something new for us to try. There was something for everyone! From maple bars (my favorite), filled, fritters, french cullers, and plenty of other classics. It’s the kind of selection where you immediately start thinking about what you’ll get next time.
The donuts were perfect!
What made Connie’s stand out to me is that you can really taste what makes a great donut. It had the anatomy of a perfect donut. Slightly crispy in golden crust, an airy interior and a buttery sweet glaze. What else can you ask for in an after-lunch dessert or to go with your morning coffee? It was just a really, really good donut.
Connie’s is a special place that left us charmed and already thinking about what you’ll order next time. Sometimes starting the day with a small treat is all it takes to make an ordinary morning feel a little more special.
