A Season for Change
Jessi Fredman of Champagne Sunday Band finds joy in the little things, from taking her convertible out on a rare sunny Pacific Northwest day to noticing a red maple leaf that reminds her fall is here, change is coming. Her story is a reminder that while the seasons around us change, we can keep choosing the things that make us feel alive. Sometimes, all it takes is a little sunshine, a moment of wonder, and the choice to embrace joy.
Jessi Fredman
Jessi, a Southern California native, comes from a musical theatre background, which is very evident in not only her voice, but her commanding stage presence. “After years of acting in plays,” she says, “I got tired of pretending to be other people, and decided to be myself, which has been the most challenging role of my career.” With an irresistibly playful spunkiness, Jessi brings the audience into her life, sharing her experiences and feelings both in the songs and in stories between the songs. “It’s not unusual for people I’ve never met to come up to me after a show and say that they feel like they’ve known me for years.”
Dockyard Roller Derby
Dockyard Roller Derby is Tacoma’s original WFTDA flat track roller derby league. Founded in 2005, as Dockyard Derby Dames, Dockyard has grown into a fully functional skater-run, non-profit organization.
We are a diverse group of athletes who are passionate about volunteering, dedicated to our league, and professionally work hard as spirited skaters devoted to fostering partnerships within our community.
We have built a strong base of talented skaters by recruiting, training, and retaining skaters. This momentum to keep growing as a league and compete has gained Dockyard recognition among the roller derby community.
