Lakewood Eats: The Grill 253

True Heart. True Seoul. Right Here In Lakewood.

From sizzling Beef Bulgogi and Bibimbap to the comforting warmth of Kimchi Stew and Tteokbokki, The Grill 253 brings true heart and Seoul to the Lakewood community, which is evident through Anna Lee's clear passion for her customers. When you step through the door, the Korean spirit feels a little closer, as if the country itself has found its way to the Pacific Northwest.

We are honored to serve it [our food] to military customers...They call me the Mama Ann, and I think that is love!

The Grill is more than just a place to eat; it's a reflection of the rich Korean culture that thrives quietly in Lakewood, among neighbors who’ve made this community their own. There’s something special about finding that authenticity right in our backyard, where the fusion of cultures and the shared experience of food make this neighborhood feel even more like home.

Lakewood and Tacoma often seem worlds apart, but anyone who’s spent time here knows that the two cities are intimately intertwined. They’re like two halves of the same whole, each contributing its unique character to the shared spirit of the region. While Tacoma may often take center stage, Lakewood’s understated charm is deserving of its own spotlight, especially in the stories that unfold quietly in its corners every day.

This is part of the Lakewood Eats series, where we explore some of the area’s hidden gems, showcasing the places that give this community its flavor.
