Tacoma Beer Week

An Interview With Matt McLaren

For eleven years now, Tacoma Beer Week has united the local craft beer culture with dozens of local businesses and organizations. Although every year features a different line up of breweries and collaborating venues, the mission is always the same: to highlight incredible local beers and local small businesses in Tacoma and the greater Pierce County community.

In 2025, Tacoma Beer Week saw a record-breaking year, tipping the scale into a territory that Matt McLaren, one of the TBW team members, says they weren’t expecting until 2026 at least.

Matt sat down to talk with us about this rollercoaster decade, how TBW has evolved since it’s inception, and what it means to see your community in a pint glass.

Even if you’re not a big beer person, there’s probably a beer out there for you. And there are probably ways you can contribute to the community in meaning in a meaningful way through beer culture.
